Eclipse Over Libya, 2006
In March of 2006, Bert and Anne crossed western Egypt into
Libya.
Ancient ruins along the Mediterranean coast are spectacular. However,
their goal was a spot in the Sahara desert about 50 miles inland from Benghazi.
At this spot, on March 29, there was a total eclipse of the sun that
lasted three minutes and 57 seconds.
Bert was equipped with a Kodak EasyShare Z740 camera (5 Megapixel, 10X
Optical Zoom). His greatest difficulty was getting into position to
adjust camera settings that were visible only through the electonic
view finder, while the camera was on a tripod and pointing almost
straight up. Here are some of the results of those efforts.
